Photographic Skills

Which of the following photographic features/equipment have you used on a camera before:

Manual Focus features	x		To a strong level I use manual focus features, I had taken photography in secondary school and have started taking it at A level in college, I take a lot of photographs in my spare time on my own Camera and also take them using my phone.
Shutter Speed	x		To a strong level I am confident in using shutter speeds and are now confident on what they are and do, I first started using shutter speeds in my photography class in college and further experimented with it in my media lesson, I now go out in my spare time and use this technique in my photography.
Aperture control	x		To a medium level I use aperture, aperture is something I feel strong with using but not completely strong with at the same time. I first came across aperture in my photography in college and got the hang of what to do and experimented quite a lot with it. I further experimented with aperture in my media lesson and then felt even more confident with it.
ISO Control	x		To a medium level I have completed using ISO controls on a camera, I learnt about ISO settings in my photography lessons in college, I also use the ISO settings at home on my own camera when going to take photographs to make sure the photography will take and show how I want it to.
A tripod	x		To a strong level I use tripods most of the time when taking photographs on my own camera, in my spare time; I first learnt how to use a tripod in my photography lessons in college and then further learnt and experimented with them in media. I then taught myself how to use it also by getting my own for my camera and experimented with it in my own time. I now feel very confident with using tripods.
External flash	x		To a medium level I am confident with using external flash; I have only used it once in a photo shoot for my magazine for media, but got the hang of it quite well and quickly.

Text control	x		To a strong level I know how to use text control and have used it in the process of making my article, I first learnt how to use text control in school, in my create and media diploma, I have use text control to place my text where I want it and edit it in the ways I want it to using Photoshop and InDesign.
Filters	x		To a strong level I have used filters on Photoshop, I first learnt how to use them in school on my photography course and feel very confident in using them.
Brushes	x		To a strong level I have used brushes in Photoshop when creating break out boxes, and editing the way a photograph looks and lots of other things, I first learnt how to use these tools in my photography course that I took in school.
Layers	x		To a strong level I know how to use layers in Photoshop and how to adjust them and put them where I want. I learnt how to do this in school.
Opacity control	x		To a strong level I know how to use the opacity control well, I learnt this in school. The opacity control helps a lot in controlling how visible you want something to be and it’s great for making things look just how you want them to.
Shape creation	x		To a strong level I have used shape creation I first used this in school.
Brightness and contrast control	x		To a strong level I have used brightness and contrast control in Photoshop I first learnt how to use this in school and it’s great for editing photographs.

Feathering	x		To a strong level I have used feathering in Photoshop I first used feathering in school and found it very easy and simple to use.
Colour curves adjustment	x		To a strong level I have used colour curves adjustment I first used this in school, it’s good for making an image darker in certain colours and making it look just how you want it to.
Resolution setting control	x		To a medium level I have used this setting; I first used this in college in my photography lesson.
Magnetic lasso, polygon lasso tool	x		To a strong level I have used these tools, I first started to use them in school and have become very confident in using them. They are the best thing to use to outline something on a photograph and concentrate on specific things and are great in cutting something out to move it somewhere else.
Cropping tool	x		To a strong level I have used to cropping tool, I first used this in school.
Clone tool	x		To a strong level I have used the clone tone, it’s great for covering things up and taking part of a photograph and putting it somewhere else in your own way. I  first used this in my photography lessons in school
Retouch tool	x		To a strong level I have used the retouch tool, which is good for making your photographs look professional. I first started using this in school.

Have you ever used In design ever before?	x		I first started using InDesign in college for my media project to design a magazine article; I would say I’m at a medium level with it.
Margin and column guide creation	x		I started using this to make my article border and to make sure everything was in proportion I’ve never used this before until I used it in college for media I am now at a medium level with it.
Inserting an image ID	x		To a medium level I know how to insert an image using InDesign, I first learnt how to do this in my media lesson, in college.
Resizing images in ID	x		To a medium level I know how to resize images in InDesign. I learnt how to do this in my media lesson for college.
Text manipulation – resizing, rotation	x		Using InDesign I would say im at a strong level when it comes to text manipulation, resizing and rotation, I learnt how to do this in college.
