Quantitative and
qualitative research
Quantitative research
= is to do with counting things, and dealing with numbers.
Advantages - it’s
very reliable and gives a definite answer, you’ll always get the same results.
Also you can display large sample sizes; it’s also a speedy process.
Disadvantages –
not very detailed
Qualitative research
= explaining the quality of things and finding out people experiences and
opinions.
Advantages - it’s
easy to figure out sales figures and is good with the production of things. It
helps with writing reviews and writing interviews and it’s also very detailed
and subjective.
Disadvantages –
it’s not as fast as quantitative research because you have to find out more
than quantitative research as you have to find out people’s emotions and how
they feel about things, it’s much more detailed, it can’t replicate, and it
won’t be the same with everyone. It’s a much smaller scale and it can’t display
the graphics. There’s no right or wrong answer meaning, there’s no definite
answer.
